Add or subtract days from a date

What date is 100 days from today? Or 10,000 days after your birthday? Pick a base date, enter an amount and choose a unit — DaysGap lands you on the exact day, with its weekday and distance from today.

Simple by design

How it works

Three steps, zero spreadsheets.

Pick your dates

Choose a start and end date with the date pickers, or tap Today to drop in the current day. The two dates can be thousands of years apart.

Fine-tune the count

Decide whether the end date counts as one extra day, flip the range with the swap button, or load a quick pick like “Days until New Year”.

The classic off-by-one

The +1 question: difference or calendar count?

There are two honest answers to “how many days between January 1 and January 31?”. The mathematical difference is 30 days — that's how hotel bills and interest are counted. But if you worked every day from the 1st to the 31st, you worked 31 days. DaysGap shows the pure difference by default, and the “Include end date” switch adds the last day whenever you need it.

Accuracy

Leap years, handled for you

February 29 appears almost every four years and quietly adds a day to your count. DaysGap applies the full Gregorian rule — a year is a leap year if it divides by 4, except for century years, unless they divide by 400. That is why the year 2000 had a February 29 but 1900 did not — and why this tool stays accurate across centuries.

Plan like a pro

Workdays and weekends

Planning a sprint, a visa application or a delivery? The calculator separates your range into Monday–Friday workdays and weekend days, so you see both at a glance. Public holidays vary from country to country, so they are not subtracted — check your local calendar for those.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate the number of days between two dates?

Convert both dates to midnight UTC, subtract the start timestamp from the end timestamp, then divide by 86,400,000 — the number of milliseconds in a day. DaysGap does this instantly and always returns a whole number of days, no matter which month lengths or leap years fall in between.

Is the end date included in the count?

By default the result is the pure difference: January 1 to January 2 equals 1 day, not 2. If you want to count both the first and the last day — for hotel stays, rentals or project timelines — switch on “Include end date” to add one day.

Do leap years affect the calculation?

Yes, automatically. February 29 is counted whenever it falls inside your range, so a leap year correctly returns 366 days instead of 365. Leap years follow the Gregorian rule: divisible by 4, except century years, unless divisible by 400 — so 2000 was a leap year but 1900 was not.

What are workdays or business days?

Workdays are Monday to Friday, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. DaysGap shows exactly how many workdays and how many weekend days fall inside your date range. Public holidays are not subtracted, because they differ from country to country.

How do I add or subtract days from a date?

Use the Add / Subtract tool below the main calculator. Pick a base date, enter an amount, choose days, weeks, months or years, and you get the resulting date, its weekday and how far away it is from today.

Can I share or bookmark a calculation?

Yes. The calculator writes your dates into the address bar as you go, and the “Copy share link” button copies a URL containing both dates — anyone who opens it sees the same result instantly.

Does DaysGap cost anything?

No. DaysGap is 100% free, with no sign-up and no limits — calculate as many date gaps, workday counts and countdowns as you like.
